To locate the correct wires, follow the loom from the barrel down the steering column until you find the connecting plug. In most cases this will be a black plug, although it could be white in some cases.
To identify the wires, you need to identify the wire on the back of this plug, opposite to the barrel which may not have corresponding colours.
- Pin 7 should be a Black with a Light Blue trace. you need to cut this wire and join one end to the Yellow and the other to the Green heavy set wires.
- Pin 2 should be Black with a Yellow trace. This is the wire you tap into for 12v+ Ignition power. (red)
- Black wire needs to go to a factory ground.
Note - from a wiring schematic perspective Toyota consider the wires from the plug and the barrel one unit, so the wire colours may not match on that side of the plug. Wires must be located from the loom side, but then the joins can be made on the barrel side once the wires are located.
