There are two electrical variations of transfer cases that we have seen in the Nissan Patrol GQ and GU vehicles. One has two sensors, the other has three sensors.
The sensors are located on the passenger side of the Transfer case and the wiring connectors are located at the top rear of the transfer case on the drivers side mounted to a metal bracket.
The two sensor transfer case has sensors for:
- 4WD - This Sensor triggers when the Transfer Case is shifted from 2WD to 4WD. This sensor stays triggered in 4WD High Range and Low Range
- Neutral - This Sensor triggers when the Transfer Case is shifted into Neutral position.
The three sensor transfer case has sensors for:
- 4WD - This Sensor triggers when the Transfer Case is shifted from 2WD to 4WD. This sensor stays triggered in 4WD High Range and Low Range
- Neutral - This Sensor triggers when the Transfer Case is shifted into Neutral position.
- Low Range - This Sensor trigger when the Transfer Case is shifted into Low Range.
If you have a two sensor transfer case, you will be unable to connect the Low Range Yellow wire from the COMPUSHIFT to any of the sensors.
If you have a three sensor transfer case, connect the Low Range Yellow wire from the COMPUSHIFT to the vehicle harness side of the middle connector mounted on top of the Transfer Case.
