3rd Party Cruise Control on 79 Conversions

Created by Craig Morton, Modified on Thu, 3 Nov, 2022 at 4:20 PM by Craig Morton

Pre-DPF 79 Series did not have factory cruise control systems fitted.

Factory DPF 79 Series came with Factory Cruise control, however this must be disconnected and replaced with a 3rd party cruise control during the conversion or the COMPUSHIFT will not be able to determine the throttle position when the cruise control is active. Throttle will appear to the COMPUSHIFT as zero.

It is important that the COMPUSHIFT TPS pickup wires are spliced into the loom between the COMPUSHIFT and the ECU. If this is not done correctly, the COMPUSHIFT will not be able to determine the throttle position when the cruise control is active. This can lead to critical failure of the transmission.
